This class is more than just postures, it's about connecting with other mums and finding space to chat and share your experiences with a new born/young baby. This is a safe space where you will feel supported and comfortable.
Classes are really lovely, we practice yoga for you and for baby - postures are adapted for postnatal bodies, working on gently rebuilding abdominal and pelvic floor muscles and lower back strength. Relaxing and refreshing movement in a low stress setting to help you re-gain your strength and muscle tone after having a baby. This is a very informal class with a free flowing, unstructured format. You can participate as much or as little as you wish, allowing you to feed, change and play with your baby as the mood takes you. These classes are a great way to meet other mums and babies.
What happens at the sessions?
The classes last around 2 hours - They involve some breathe work, yoga for mum, massage for baby and some lovely deep relaxation together. I offer tea and biscuits and plenty of time for chats as we finish our session
When is it best to start?
Normally, I would recommend at least 6 weeks after you have given birth. If you have had a caesarean section, then I would recommend 8-10 weeks. As always, the most important thing is to listen to your body, if you are in any pain or discomfort, just wait a few weeks. You can always contact me to discuss this.
During the session there is no pressure for you or baby to do anything that’s uncomfortable it’s all an option and will be dependant on how you feel each week.
No previous yoga experience necessary.
Classes are suitable for babies from new-born until they are mobile (8-12 months depending on your baby’s levels of activity!)
What do I need to bring?
I provide everything you will need at the class including mats, cushions, blankets, etc, all you need to bring is a water bottle and wear comfy clothes. If you’d like to bring your own mat please feel free to do so.
Missed/non attended classes:
Classes are offered in blocks and your place is reserved. If you can't attend or miss a class, I'm afraid you can't carry them over and your block must be used consecutively. However I am happy for you to send someone else in your place if you know anyone that would like to attend in your absense.
If you have any questions about the classes please get in touch x
